Polaris

Polaris

Polaris is an device to assist astrophotography by guiding users to the position of the star they wish to capture. When the GPS module detects the person's current latitude, longitude and time, Polaris calculates the azimuth (the compass-based angle) and altitude (the vertical angle relative to the horizon) of stars visible from that location. Using this information, users can check which stars are currently visible in the sky, select a target star, and begin preparing for the shot. With the help of an OLED display and a gyroscope sensor, Polaris provides a visual guide to level the camera horizontally. Then, using a Hall sensor, users can adjust the azimuth (similar to using a compass) to align with the selected star’s direction. Finally, based on the pitch value from the gyroscope, users adjust the altitude angle. Once the camera is correctly aligned toward the the star with Polaris, they are ready to take the shot!
